Estate Planning & Elder Law Matters

ESTATE PLANNING AND ELDER LAW MATTERS AT STEPHEN R. MANNING IN EAST LONGMEADOW, MASSACHUSETTS

Estate planning is critical to ensure peace of mind and financial security for loved ones. Basic estate plans may include a Will and possibly a Living Trust. In addition, we generally advise clients execute a Durable Power of Attorney and Health Care Proxy to appoint a loved one or trusted advisor to act for them in the event of incapacity. These documents are important for both young families and the elderly. Other services may be appropriate in the event a client's taxable estate may exceed estate tax exemptions or should there be unusual circumstances; including, for example, a Special Needs Trust. We also assist elder clients and their families concerning issues related to long term care of an elderly client, including attending to completing and filing applications for long term care benefits through the Medicaid program.

Examples of estate planning services include:

  • Wills and trusts
  • Charitable trusts
  • Special needs trust
  • Estate and gift tax planning
  • Powers of Attorney and Health Care Proxies (Advance directives)
